You may be making a bigger mistake than passing on the sale rack if you're not shopping at Banana Republic with one of their credit cards. Banana Republic is known as the place for classic, sophisticated work and casual clothes for men and women who want to look like a million bucks without spending anywhere near that much. Even though their clothes and accessories are priced affordably, Banana Republic believes you should earn rewards for using their credit card to make your purchases. Those rewards are what we will be exploring today, with the Banana Republic credit cards.
I am using the plural “credit cards” here instead of just “credit card” because Banana Republic offers two separate card options for their customers. Their in-house credit card, also known as a store card, is backed by Synchrony Bank, one of the largest retail credit card issuers. The second Banana Republic credit card is issued by Visa. You can use both of these credit cards to pay for your in-store or online shopping sprees at Banana Republic or other stores under this umbrella which includes Gap, Old Navy, and Athleta. The Banana Republic Visa is the only one that can be used outside of the family of stores.
Both cards earn points. With either card, you’ll earn exponential points on purchases made at Banana Republic or in the Gap family of stores. If approved for the Visa, you’ll earn points on every purchase. The Banana Republic Visa also has the same (high) variable interest range as the store card, but it’s harder to get approved for since it has a wider use. The perks like access to exclusive discounts and sales, are the same for both types of cardholders. Because of the rewards potential and access to exclusive deals, if you like the Gap family of stores like we do, you’ll love this card!
