Chase Bank Credit Cards with Travel Rewards

Chase offers two of its own credit cards that have exclusive travel rewards: The Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

Chase Ultimate Rewards points work much like all other rewards programs, essentially you earn points when you make purchases using your credit card and then can later redeem them for cash, gift cards and travel.

What Influence U.S. Adults Travel Decisions? 2017

When Sapphire Preferred cardholders redeem their points for travel, that includes airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, campgrounds and operators of passenger trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, toll bridges and highways, and parking lots and garages.

1-to-1 Chase Sapphire Credit Cards Transfer

Here is the real deal of having one of these cards: your Chase Ultimate Awards points can be transferred for free to other travel rewards cards!! Meaning, if you want to use a different card for an exceptional offer, you can easily use your accrued Chase Ultimate Awards points to get it!! You can also transfer unused points to friends.

Chase Ultimate Awards points can be transferred to any of these partners' rewards programs:

Airline Travel Partners

  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Flying Blue AIR FRANCE KLM
  • Korean Air SKYPASS
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards

    What Do Customers Say?

There are not many complaints about the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve credit cards. The introductory offer is great and the flexibility of transferring points has garnered raves from cardholders. Those who are happiest with the card are those who do not carry a balance as the APR is high.

Like most bank credit cards with travel rewards, the main complaint is the high cost of tickets when you book travel through the rewards program. Online travel writers and points reviewers love these cards. They have developed unique ways to increase their points using the free points transfer option and have some really great stories about the trips they have made using Chase Ultimate Awards.

Chase Co-branded Hotel Rewards Credit Cards

Chase also has a slew of co-branded hotel credit cards that offer rewards and discounts on your favorite places to stay. They range from luxury (Ritz-Carlton) to family-oriented (Disney) and provide a variety of perks for cardholders. Luxury travellers will enjoy the perks of the Ritz-Carlton Rewards credit card. They include hotel credits toward dining, spa or recreational activities when you stay two or more nights and upgrade to the opulent Club Level three times per year for up to seven nights. The Club Level includes concierge services, complimentary culinary presentations and elegant spaces to work or lounge.

The Marriott Rewards Premier, IHG Rewards Club Select and Hyatt credit cards are designed for frequent travellers who want to save money on their hotel stays and can really benefit from the points they earn towards further travel.

The two Disney cards issued by Chase are all about saving money for family travel and entertainment at Disney's theme parks, resorts and stores.

    What Do Customers Say?

In general, Marriott Rewards Premier credit cardholders are satisfied with the benefits offered, especially the annual free night at the hotel's most elite properties and finest rooms—the cost of that alone is far greater than the card's annual fee.

Customers are also thrilled at the bonus points that can be redeemed for a 4-night stay after their first purchase, especially because it is for a luxurious Category 1 property.

IHG Rewards Club Select credit card has a few complaints about using it overseas. It seems many cardholders have had their cards declined in other countries cancelling out the whole reason to have the card in the first place. Many people have this card as a supplement to their Chase Sapphire credit card and use the two together to get the most out of the rewards.

The Hyatt credit cardholders like the low annual fee and the perks offered by the automatic Platinum status for the first year, but what they really love is the ability to upgrade their rooms using their points.

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards credit cardholders enjoy the luxury offered by the Ritz-Carlton properties and like that they can upgrade to Club Level multiple times every year and get a hotel credit for each stay. There was lots of chatter online about scoring great hotel stays with the two-night stay introductory offer.

2017 Data Showing Where Do Americans Stay on Vacation

Those who own Disney credit cards really like the savings and perks they get at theme parks, and especially cruises, but those who have had to keep a balance every month are certainly feeling the pain of the high interest rate.

Chase Co-Branded Airline Credit Cards

Chase also offers four co-branded Airline travel rewards credit cards: Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card, United MileagePlus Explorer card, United MileagePlus Club card, and the British Airways Visa Signature card.

If most of your travel is within the U.S., the British Airways Visa Signature card is not for you. It doesn't have many domestic carrier partners, but does have plenty in Europe and if you use your card often enough, you can receive a Travel Together Ticket that allows you to bring a friend along for free when you book a ticket using your Avios for two years.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus credit cards have the lowest annual fee, but are also the only card Chase offers to charge a foreign transaction fee. That can hurt if you plan to use your credit card while travelling internationally. However, if you are a frequent domestic flyer to cities serviced by Southwest Airlines, collecting enough points for a Companion Pass is pretty sweet.

The best two Chase airline cards for rewards are by far the United MileagePlus credit cards.

Also, the miles earned using United MileagePlus credit cards can be used to book flights on Star Alliance—a partnership of 28 airlines around the world to choose from. Plus, the United MileagePlus credit cards have the most extensive travel insurance coverage, including trip cancellation reimbursement and insurance on rental cars in the U.S. and abroad.

    What Do Customers Say?

All-in-all, Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus cardholders are happy with their cards, however, some feel like they should be offered more incentives to stay loyal customers. They could be right, as Southwest's rewards look a little stingy next to those offered by United MileagePlus cards.

Airlines Reward Programs Rankings 2017

The United MileagePlus Explorer and Club credit cards are also a big hit with customers who are generally pleased with their travel experiences and savings. They enjoy the generous introductory offer and balance bonuses. Those who use the United MileagePlus Explorer Business card are also pleased with the free cards for employees.

Chase Co-branded Business Travel Credit Cards

Chase Bank also offers its own business travel credit card with the benefits of Chase Ultimate Rewards, as well as three co-branded business travel rewards credit cards: Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business, United MileagePlus Explorer Business and Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit cards. The advantage to having a business card with travel rewards is the points you can earn on business supplies and services, and not necessarily using the card to travel. Most do offer travel perks and higher point collection when you use the card for travel, but great point collection doesn't need to include frequent travel.

Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card is great for businesses that need internet services and advertise—both of which can earn points—and need the flexibility of the Chase Ultimate Awards.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business credit cards also offer great rewards for those who fly Southwest frequently, but because Southwest doesn't fly into as many cities as some other domestic carriers, the card only makes sense if you and your business are located in areas serviced by Southwest .

United MileagePlus Explorer Business credit card is, again, the best rewards credit card on the list if you really only want to collect United miles, but the card does not provide the same flexibility as the Chase Ink Business Preferred card.

    What Do Customers Say?

Chase Ink Business Preferred and United MileagePlus Explorer Business credit card customers and online reviewers all really think these cards are great. Everyone loves the introductory offer and find the cards really useful for business while racking up serious points and miles.

Similarly, customers of Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business credit card also had lots of positive things to say. Most find they are able to accumulate points quickly and enjoy lots of free flights. Criticisms were mainly centered around the high APR.

Cardholders really seem to like the benefits of the Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card, however a few have mentioned that there is not many more perks than the personal Marriott Rewards card and the annual fee is higher.

Chase Sapphire Preferred VS United MileagePlus Explorer

Here is the real question: Is a Chase Bank co-branded airline card better than the travel rewards available on a Chase Sapphire credit card? Let's take a look.

Travel Coverage

Both Chase Sapphire Preferred and United MileagePlus Explorer credit card offer the most important coverage you need when travelling – trip cancellation reimbursement and car rental insurance – but the insurance United MileagePlus offers is more extensive and includes coverage for lost or delayed baggage, as well as reimbursement for delayed trips.

If your motive for collecting travel rewards is to get cheap vacations fast, the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card is for you, as it provides more value when you redeem your points for travel, and the travel partners include the co-branded airline credit cards.

The flexibility of transferring points for free makes it the best Chase travel card for collecting and redeeming travel points.
